Why every run is a perfect run. There. I said it. Every run is a perfect run!
As a former morbidly obese woman who topped the scales at 283 lbs, I can tell you with 100% guarantee- that as I've run off 70 lbs, yes indeed, every run is a perfect run.
The first time I ran 1 mile nonstop, even though it took 17 minutes? Perfect! When I recently ran a mile in 11 minutes during a threshold test? Perfect!
You see, any time we get off the couch and get outside to run, it's so good for us mentally, physically and emotionally, that, in essence, it's a perfect run. It might not be our best, it might not be our fastest; it might hurt more some days than others; our mind might not be as engaged some days... Nonetheless, every time we show up, lace up the running shoes and take off-- it becomes.... After the first mile (first mile is always the worst).... Perfect.
So my friends-- keep running. Keep showing up for those perfect runs- because we can. Fast or slow, it doesn't matter. The health benefits are the same-- your body changes, and your mind changes. Running is a blessing. A challenge. An opportunity. A joy.
I'll see you at the Erlanger Chattanooga Half Marathon March 5. I'll be at the back of the pack, and some full marathoners will finish before I finish 13.1 miles, but my run will still be perfect. 💕💕 - Debbie Fine
